Siju Cave Another important destination in Meghalaya is the Siju Cave, which lies on the bank of River Simsang below the village called Siju. This limestone cave has stalactites similar to those in the Blue Grotto Caves on the Island of Capri. This one is the third longest cave in the country.
Mawsynram Cave Mawsynram Cave is a cave made up of stalagmite, which resembles a massive shivalinga. A climb up the rock offers a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains, valleys, plains and even the rivers of Bangladesh.
Smit Smit is a pleasant little village located just 11 km away from the capital city of Shillong and it occupies an important place among the cultural centers of the Khasi Hills. The village is considered pollution free and boasts of scenic beauty. It is also recognized as a major contributor to the economy of the state, as it grows a variety of vegetation and spices, which are exported to other states. Additionally, the village carried out weaving, sericulture and animal husbandry.
Elephant Falls Khasi In addition to a large number of states, the state of Meghalaya is also known for its splendid waterfalls. One of these is the Elephant Falls, which lie near Shillng in East Khasi Hills. Another popular waterfall in the same region is the Nohkalikai Falls.
Some other well known destinations in Meghalaya include Krem Dam Cave, Syndai Village, Balpakram Wildlife Park, Naphak Lake, Nokrek Peak, Tura Peak, Garo Hills, Jaintia Hills, Spread Eagle Falls and Crinoline Falls. All these destinations offer an amazing insight into the beauty of nature, with fresh air and green surroundings.
