Powerful dynasties like Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas, Kadambas, Deccan Sultanate, Hoysalas and Vijayanagara Empire left behind them a trail of glorious heritage which can be still traced in the state of Karnataka. From the World Heritage Sites of Hampi and Pattadakal to the historical locations of Aihole, Badami, Belur and Halebidu, there are rich treasure troves of Hoysala Architecture, Dravidian Architecture, Buddhist and Jain rock-cut shrines as well as thousands of forts and Hindu temples contributing towards a magnificent heritage canvas. The royal palaces and splendid monuments of Mysore and Bangalore extend the list further. And then there is coastal Karnataka with beautiful beaches like Malpe, Karkala and Gokarna.
Other spectacular spectacles of nature include Jog Falls and Shivanasamudra Falls and the lavishly green hill stations of Coorg, Agumbe and Kudremukh. Karnataka is also a celebrated wildlife destination with popular national parks like Bandipur, Nagarhole and Dandeli and bird sanctuaries like Ranganathittu. Trekking, rafting, rock climbing and mountain biking are the best possible adventures in the state which also attracts pilgrims to the destinations like Shravanabelagola (world’s highest monolithic statue dedicated to Lord Bahubali) and Srirangapatna Ranganathaswamy Temple.
